Sweet Potato BBQ Sauce

This scrumptious Sweet Potato BBQ Sauce is not only gluten-free and dairy-free, but it’s Whole 30 compliant to boot! The creaminess of the sweet potatoes and powerful zip of the apple cider vinegar are sure to please even the most skeptical taste buds once they give this sauce a try.

Sweet Potato BBQ Sauce

We had decided to make these Whole 30 Pork Ribs and wanted a sauce that could really bring some extra flavor to the table. Boy, did we sure find what we were looking for!

This recipe uses mashed sweet potatoes and tomato sauce to create a smooth, creamy base. The more thoroughly you mix it, the smoother it will be! Everyone has their own unique preference, but we wanted it to be as smooth as possible.

Once you’ve made the BBQ sauce, you can whip up some fun variations. We added some pineapples and peaches for an extra bit of sweetness, as you’ll see in the recipe below.

Don’t be alarmed by the strong smell of the apple cider vinegar — it won’t overpower the rest of the flavors, we promise! It’s necessary to add the tanginess you may not even know you expect from standard BBQ sauces.

Pro Tip: Make sure to mix this sauce as thoroughly as possible. Seriously – the more you mix, the saucier it will be. You’ll be glad you did, we guarantee it!
